Eileen Montgomery - Brother 940 electronic machine with ribber Eileen Montgomery has been machine knitting since 1986 and teaching since 1991. She is experienced on the Superba, Singer 700, Brother 940, Studio LK150 and 370, and Artisan G63-70D machines and their accessories, plus DesignaKnit. Since 1989, her patterns and articles have been published in The Carriage Trade, Machine Knitters Source, Canada's Fashion Machine, Machine Knitting Monthly, News & Views, DAK Link, Knitwords and countless newsletters. Eileen has also published eleven books of machine knitting patterns, ranging from Christmas crafts to baby garments to home decor items and a series of technique books. Friday: 1. (2 hours) * The Bird's Eye Pattern: This is the most basic design, commonly referred to as Card 1, but available for all punchcard and electronic machines. It can be knit in almost every stitch for fabrics, braids and edgings; single and double bed. Come to this class and see how far one design can go. Let me count the ways...........
2. * Tuck Lace: A wonderful lacy fabric knit without a lace carriage on any machine. Use a thin yarn for a fabulous fluid fabric or lighten up a heavy yarn while giving it an interesting texture. We will also look at how to shape while knitting tuck lace garments.
3. * Socks are a great item to knit as they are small and quick to knit but have a number of techniques in them. My favourite method of construction is different from most. It is easily adjusted to fit any size knit in any yarn on any machine.
Saturday: 1. (2 hours) * Textured Stitches: In this class Eileen will look at a variety of stitches and techniques for creating texture including pintucks, loop embossing, appliqued diamonds, beading, textured stripes, enlarged stitches, ruching, bobbles, shortrows, and the list goes on and on. This description will be updated as she narrows the choices down to only two hours. 2. * Knitweaving: This is a fabulous technique that most machines can do. It can be knit automatically or by hand-manipulation or a combination of both. It can be used to create a stable fabric suitable for cut & sew, to double up any thickness of yarn, create different textures or to add an accent using a special yarn. Weaving is a good way to use difficult or hand-knitting yarns on the machine and to make the most of expensive yarns.
3. * Zippers: Here's a great way to finish your cardigan or jacket for an up-to-date look. We will look at a number of ways, including facings, trims and double bands, to finish your garment and attach zippers.
* denotes that class is suitable for most gauges and machines Return to Classes Return to top |
